The healthcare industry responded with astonishing speed to the shock of the COVID-19 pandemic. Practically overnight, it shifted much of its work onto virtual platforms and digital technologies; and in doing so, packed a decade’s worth of reforms into a few short months.

A number of foundational shifts are still arising from and being exacerbated by the pandemic. Among them three technologies are playing increasingly pivotal roles around the globe — cloud computing, artificial intelligence and virtual care delivery. Digital innovation and the use of data analytics can help health care organizations and the wider ecosystem improve ways of working, expand access to services, and deliver a more effective patient and clinician experience.

This has led to assembling and evaluating larger data sets – but for healthcare organizations to truly realize the potential of data’s analytical power, they have to shift their approach to address multiple tasks.
